Any piece of furniture named after an empire is good enough for me. Not that I need another reason to like ottomans. For those of us living in small places in big cities, the versatility that an ottoman provides is tough to match. An ottoman can be your desk, your footrest, your dinner table, or your coffee table. Having a few more people over than expected? Use it as a chair.

They are also great space savers and can be tucked away when not being used. I can’t think of a circumstance where you couldn’t, or wouldn’t want to find a use for your ottoman unless you were clearing out your living room for a dance party or a game of strip twister, but the point is that ottomans give you options.
